The First Book of Meqabyan is a canonical text only in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Despite its name, it has no direct relation to the books of Maccabees found in the Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, presenting distinct narratives and characters, such as King Tseerutsaydan and the Meqabyan martyrs. The Ethiopian tradition considers it a historical and wisdom text, often cited for its moral laws.

However if it weren't thus - it are that former persons might be buried in them fathers grave Beginnin from 'Adam - Beginnin from Siet and 'Abiel - Siem and Noh - Yis'haq and 'Abriham - Yosief and Ya`iqob - and 'Aron and Mussie - yet to what are it that them didn't love that them might be buried in another place?
Aren't it to them to arise together with them cousins in Resurrection time? How about aren't it lest them bones be counted with evil ones and pagans bones - them who worship idols? to what are it that them didn't love that them might be buried in another place?
But thou - don't mislead thy reasonin while thou said - 'How will dead persons arise after them dead - them who were buried in one grave bein tens of thousands and whose bodies were demolished and rotten?'
and on the time thou sight up toward a grave - thou speak this in thy reasonin dullness while thou said - 'A whole fistful of Earth won't be found ~ how will dead persons arise?'
Will thou say the seed thou sowed won't grow? Even the seed thou sowed shall grow.
and all likewise - the souls JAH sowed shall quickly arise - as Him have Created man in Him Truth bringin from not livin toward livin - Him shall arouse them quickly by Him Word that save ~ Him won't delay Him arisin.
and as Him have again returned him from livin - toward a grave in death - what about aren't it possible to Him again to return from death toward Life?
