The First Book of Meqabyan is a canonical text only in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Despite its name, it has no direct relation to the books of Maccabees found in the Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, presenting distinct narratives and characters, such as King Tseerutsaydan and the Meqabyan martyrs. The Ethiopian tradition considers it a historical and wisdom text, often cited for its moral laws.

Chapter 19
on the time Qayen childran abounded them worked drums and harps - santee and violins - and them made songs and all the games.
Childran who are attractive and comely were birthed to Qayen from the wife of the kind man 'Abiel - whom him killed because she - to she were attractive - and after him killed him bredda him took that and she who were him money.
and separatin from him father - him seized them and went toward Qiefaz region that are toward the West - and that attractive one childran were attractive like unto them mother.
and because this thing Siet childran descended toward Qayen childran - and after them sight them up them didn't wait one hour - and them made the daughters whom them chose wives to them ras selves.
As them have taken I toward error together with them because them error - because this thing JAH vexed on I and vexed on them.
and Deeyablos havin cajoled sayin - 'You will become creators like unto your Creator JAH' - him took I mother Hiewan and I father 'Adam toward him error.
But it seemin Truth to them in them dullness - them demolished JAH LAW - Him Who Created them bringin from not-livin toward livin that them might bow and praise Him glorified Name.
But Him - them Creator - downbased those 'Adam and Hiewan who made godhood to them ras selves - and Him downbased him who are arrogant.
Like unto Daweet spoke sayin - ' 'Adam perish by the sinner Deeyablos arrogance' - Him abused them - to I father 'Adam have been canvicted on Deeyablos arrogance by Him true Judgemant.
and Siet childran who erred by Qayel childran took I toward them sin thus ~ because this thing I era that JAH gave I were less than I fathers eras.
But them had worked goodly Work - to them had firmed up them reasonins in JAH - to them had taught them daughter childran and them male childran lest them depart from JAH LAW that them taught them - and there were no evil enemy who approach them.
But if them worked goodly Work - there are nothing that benefit them if them didn't tell nor teach to them childran.
Like unto Daweet spoke sayin - 'Them didn't hide from them childran to another child - and teach JAH praise - the wondrous miracles Him did - and Him Power' - there are nothing that benefit them if them didn't teach to them childran that them might teach to them childran to make heart like unto them knew - and that them might know and do Him Accord - and that them might tell them JAH LAW Trust - and that them might keep Him LAW like unto them fathers who made JAH Feeling good with them beautiful Work.
and them who told them Trust from them fathers in them infancy didn't demolish Him Command - like unto them fathers learned JAH Worship and the Nine Laws from them fathers.
Them childran learned from them fathers that them might work goodly Work and might present praise to them Creator - to them have kept Him LAW - and to them have loved Him.
and Him shall hear them in them prayer - and Him won't ignore them plea - but Him are a Forgiver.
Havin multiplied Him wrath - Him shall return it to them - and Him wouldn't destroy all in Him chastisemant.
