The First Book of Meqabyan is a canonical text only in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Despite its name, it has no direct relation to the books of Maccabees found in the Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, presenting distinct narratives and characters, such as King Tseerutsaydan and the Meqabyan martyrs. The Ethiopian tradition considers it a historical and wisdom text, often cited for its moral laws.

1 Meqabyan

Chapter 27

1

Him Created havin brought all the world from not livin toward livin - and Him totally prepared hills and mountains - and Him firmed up Earth on Water - and lest sea be shaken Him delineated she by sand - to in Him first Word JAH have said make Light be Created.

Light were Created when this world had been covered in darkness ~ JAH Created all the Creation - and Him prepared this world - and Him firmed up this world by what are due and by money that are straight ~ Him said - make evenin be dark.

and again JAH said make Light be Created ~ it dawned and there were Light - and Him Ilivated the upper Water toward Heaven.

and Him streached it forth like unto a tent - and Him firmed it up by a wind - and Him placed the lower Water within a pit.

and Him shut the sea lock in sand - and Him firmed them up in Him Authority lest them drown in Water - and Him placed animals and beasts within she - and Him placed within she Liewatan and Biehiemot who were great beasts - and Him placed within she the beasts without number - sight up and not sight up.

on the third day JAH Created on Earth plants - all the roots and woods and fruits that bear forth in each of them kinds - and a welfare wood beautiful to them to sight it up..

and Him Created a welfare wood that were both beautiful to them to sight it up and sweet to them to eat it - and Him Created grass - and all plants whose seeds are found from within them - to be food to birds and livestocks and beasts.

It dusked ~ it dawned - and on the fourth day Him said - make Light be Created in Heaven called cosmos ~ JAH havin Created moon and Sun and stars - Him placed them in Heaven called cosmos that them might shine in this world and that them might feed them daylight and night.

and after this moon and Sun and stars alternated in night and daylight.

and on the fifth day JAH Created all animals and beasts that live within Water and all birds that fly on Heaven - all that are sight up and not sight up - all this.

and on the sixth day Him Created livestocks and beasts and others - and havin Created and prepared all - Him Created 'Adam in Him Example and Him Appearance.

Him gave him all animals and beasts Him Created that him might reign on them - and again - all animals and beasts and all fishes - and Liewatan and Biehiemot that are in sea.

and Him gave him all cows that live in this world and sheeps - the animals not sight up and them that are sight up.

and Him placed in Garden 'Adam whom Him Created in Him Example and Him Appearance - that him might eat and might cultivate plants and might praise JAH there.

and to lest him demolish Him Command - Him have said - on the time when you ate from this Herb of Fig you will dead death.

and Him commanded him lest him eat from the Herb of Fig that bring death - that draw attention to evil and good - that bring death.

I mother Hiewan were cajoled by a snake misleadin and she ate from that Herb of Fig and gave it to I father 'Adam.

and 'Adam havin eaten from that Herb of Fig brought death on him childran and on him ras self.

As him have demolished Him Command - and as him have eaten from that Herb of Fig that JAH commanded sayin - Don't eat from she - JAH vexed on I father 'Adam and expelled and sent him way from the Garden - and Him gave him that Earth that grow thistle and thorn - that Him cursed because him on the time him demolished Him Command - that him might eat him weariness reward havin toiled and laboured that him might plow she.

and on the time JAH sent him forth toward this land - 'Adam returned toward complete sadness - and havin toiled and laboured that him might plow Earth - him began to eat in weariness and also in struggles.
