This book is part of the canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but is not recognized by Protestant, Catholic, or non-Ethiopian Eastern Orthodox traditions. It is one of the three books of Meqabyan (sometimes called the 'Ethiopian Maccabees'), which are distinct from the Maccabees books found in the Septuagint and Vulgate. Although it shares the name, it has no direct relation to the Jewish Maccabean revolt. The text presents parallels with Deuteronomistic themes: sin, punishment, repentance, and restoration, along with a strong emphasis on the resurrection of the dead.
II Meqabyan
Chapter 10
Fear JAH Who Created you and kept you up til today - yet you the nobles and the kings - don't go on Satan path.
Live in the LAW and Command of JAH Who rule all - yet don't go on Satan path.
As on the time 'Isra'iel childran came toward 'Amalieq that them might inherit Kiethiewon and Kenaniewon and Fierziewon country - Siefor child Balaq and Bele`am...
whom thou cursed are cursed - and him whom thou blessed blessed ~ don't go on Satan road - to him have said - "An mi will give thee much silver and gold that honour thee - that thou might curse to mi and - and havin cursed - that thou might destroy to mi."
and to Bele`am have come makin him sorcery reward a morale - and to Siefor child Balaq have shown him the place where 'Isra'iel childran camped.
to him have done him pessimism - and to him have sacrificed him sacrifice - and to him have slaughtered from him fattened cows and sheeps - and to him have loved that him might curse and destroy 'Isra'iel childran.
Him returned a curse toward a bless - yet but as JAH didn't love that him might curse them by Him Word - don't go on Satan road.
"As thou are the kindred that JAH chose - as thou are JAH Lodgin that shall come from Heaven - make persons be cursed who curse thee-I - and make persons who bless thee-I be blessed" him said.
on the time him blessed them before him - after this Siefor child Balaq were sad - and him totally vexed and commanded that him might curse them.
to the kindred that JAH blessed have come toward this country - and Bele`am told him - "Mi won't curse 'Isra'iel whom JAH blessed."
and Siefor child Balaq told Bele`am - "As to mi - mi had loved that thou might curse to mi ~ thou blessed them before mi - yet but thou didn't curse them ~ if thou had cursed to mi and told mi 'Give mi' - as to mi - mi would have given thee a house full of silver and gold - but thou totally blessed them - and thou didn't do a goodly thing to mi - and mi won't do a goodly thing to thee."
Bele`am said - "What JAH told mi Speak with mi tongue - mi will speak it - yet as to mi - mi cyaan dare to ignore JAH thing.
Lest mi curse a blessed kindred - as JAH shall vex on mi if mi love money - as to mi - mi don't love money more than mi soul.
As JAH have told them father Ya`iqob - make persons who bless thee-I be blessed and make persons who curse thee-I be cursed - lest mi curse blessed Ya`iqob - as to mi - mi don't love money more than mi soul" him said - and as JAH have told him - Him who bless thee-I are blessed...
and a person who curse thee-I unjustly are cursed - accomplish thy path and thy Work that JAH might love thee.
and don't be like unto former persons who saddened JAH in them sin and whom Him neglected - and there are them whom Him destroyed in Destruction Water.
and there are them whom Him destroyed by them haters hands ~ there are them whom Him destroyed by them enemies hands - bringin enemies who were evil persons who firmed up tribulation on them - and them captured them lords with them priests and them prophets.
and them delivered them toward the foreign country them don't know ~ them totally captured them - and them plundered them livestocks on them and destroyed them country.
to them have demolished the honoured country 'Iyerusaliem fences and ramparts - and them made 'Iyerusaliem like unto a field.
and the priests were capture - and the LAW were demolished - and warriors fought in war and fell.
and widows were capture ~ as them have been capture - them wept to them ras selves - yet them didn't weep to them husbands who dead.
and the childran wept - and elders shamed - and them weren't nice to neither a grey haired person nor a elder.
Them destroyed all them found in the country - yet them weren't nice to beauties nor to them in LAW ~ as JAH have vexed on Him kindreds on the time Him loved that Him might beforehand destroy Him Lodgin the Temple - them captured and took them toward the country them don't know and toward peoples.
As them sadden them Creator everytime - because this thing on the time JAH neglected 'Isra'iel childran - JAH made 'Iyerusaliem to be ploughed like unto a field.
to Him are nice to them because them fathers - but Him didn't destroy them at one time ~ as Him love them fathers Yis'haq and 'Abriham and Ya`iqob who reigned to true and lived firmed up in straight LAW before them Creator - it are because them fathers kindness - yet it aren't because them ras selves kindness that him forgive them.
and Him I-pointed them on honours that were twofold - and them found two Kingdoms - on Earth and in Heaven.
and you the kings and the nobles who live in this passin world - like unto your fathers who lived firmed up in Work that are due and who were precedin you likewise inherited the Kingdom of Heaven - and like unto them names were beautiful to a child childran - think of them.
and thou - straighten up thy Work - that Him might straighten up thy Kingdom to thee - and that thy name might be called in goodly invocation like unto the kind kings who were precedin thee who served JAH in them beautiful lifestyle.
