The Third Book of Meqabyan is one of the three deuterocanonical books of the Ethiopian tradition, not to be confused with the books of the Maccabees in the Catholic canon. Although it shares thematic similarities (struggle against sin and exhortation to the law of JAH), it is a distinct work, probably of Ethiopian Judeo-Christian origin. Only the Ethiopian Orthodox Church considers it canonical.
