Devotional: The Courage to Let God Lead

"Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac [...]. And Isaac said to Abraham: 'My father! [...] Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?' Abraham answered: 'God will provide for himself the lamb...'"
Grounded Faith: The Strength in Silence
We often look at the great figures of the Bible searching for stories packed with drama. Abraham is the father who leaves his land without knowing where he is going. Jacob wrestles with angels and deceives his own father. Joseph becomes the ruler of Egypt. And Isaac?
Sometimes it feels like Isaac's life was ordinary, without grand speeches or flashy miracles performed by his own hands. But that is precisely where the beauty of his story lies.
On Mount Moriah, Isaac was no longer a small child. He carried enough wood on his back for a sacrifice while walking up a mountain. He was young, strong, and completely capable of running away or questioning his own father. Yet when he realized what was happening, he chose to lie down on the altar.
It was not passivity born of weakness. It was voluntary trust. Isaac teaches us that sometimes the greatest act of faith we can have is not shouting or doing something grand, but staying quiet, surrendering control, and trusting that God will indeed provide.
Shortly after, the Bible notes a simple detail: Isaac had the habit of going out to the field in the late afternoon to meditate. In the middle of an ordinary daily routine, he took time alone with God. It was in that environment of quietness and prayer that he saw the promises come to pass.
In a world where everyone wants to be the noisy protagonist, Isaac reminds us of the value of a steady, quiet, and obedient faith.

- What do you need to place on the altar? Is there a decision, fear, or future plan that you insist on controlling instead of surrendering to God?
- Where is your field in the late afternoon? How much of your day is dedicated solely to being silent before God, away from notifications, screens, and noise?
Prayer
God, teach me to have the maturity of Isaac. When I do not understand the path or feel tempted to control everything around me, give me an obedient heart to trust in Your provision. May I learn to slow down my routine and seek Your presence in the quietness of daily life. Amen.
